FaZe Clan and Ninjas in Pyjamas are the latest teams to qualify for the Champions bracket of the CS:GO Major in Antwerp.
They both now progress through to the final stage of the competition and will be part of the eight teams who battle it out for the grand prize of $500,000 next weekend.
FaZe needed a reverse sweep to secure their passage. They went a map down against Copenhagen Flames before coming roaring back into the series.
Ninjas in Pyjamas didn’t have the same kind of struggle that FaZe did. They dominated their series.
NIP destroyed FURIA in two maps, taking the first one 16-2 in a fantastic performance on Nuke.
FURIA led 8-7 at the break on Inferno in map two but NIP won nine out of 11 rounds after the swap to turn it into another rout.
Vitality survive overtime
The pick of the morning action was in the elimination matches. Team Vitality survived an overtime in map three on Nuke in order to sent BIG home from the Major.
BIG had even won a double overtime in map two in order to force the series to the third and final map but that experience wasn’t enough for them to turn the screw again.
Vitality have now won two elimination matches, staying alive on both occasions after starting the Legends Stage 0-2.
They will now play in the final round of matches with a winner-takes-all matchup for progression into the Champions bracket.
At the time of writing, G2 are currently 1-0 against Outsiders in the other elimination match of the afternoon.
They won 16-10 on Inferno, splitting their round wins equally before and after half.
Just one more team will book their place in the Champions bracket today (May 16).
ENCE and Heroic will battle it out in the marquee matchup of the day.
You can catch that matchup here.
Another team will leave the competition too. Cloud9 and Imperial will fight to be one of the last four teams left in the Legends stage and move onto tomorrow’s games.
That match can be seen on the [B] stream here.
