Joey “Gismo” has signed a loan deal with Team Singularity to play on their Toronto Ultra Academy EU team.

He will join the squad for Stage 3 of the Elite Series.

The move comes just a week after taking a step back from the London Royal Ravens starting roster in order to be closer to home.

Playing on the Ultra EU Academy team will allow Gismo to play from home, rather than across the Atlantic.

Joey knows a the players on the Ultra EU Academy team well. It’s an exciting prospect for him to be playing with them again.

Gismo said in a Team Singularity statement: “I am excited to be back playing and with some of my closest mates.

“Thank you to the London Royal Ravens for allowing this opportunity. I am super excited to compete in the upcoming Elite Series.”

Gismo comes into the roster in place of Rafi, who was a last-minute substitute at the Pro-Am event last weekend.

The team failed to win a single series against the professional teams last weekend. It did include one of the closest 3-0 losses you will ever see though against the Minnesota Rokkr.

Ultra EU qualified for Stage 3 of the Elite series based on placement in Stage 2.

Back to Challengers

He’s got a plethora of experience in the Challengers scene. He won the Cold War European Challengers championship last season.

New teammate Vortex was part of that squad that took home $40,000.

Out of the last 13 league events in Cold War, Joey placed T2, 11 times. An incredible record that anyone would be proud of.

He’ll be trying to replicate that form against the new teams in Challengers.

Their first matchups are tonight (May 11). They will play against Mystaken (JonnyW, Snakee, Shaun, Runner) and Dizzys Rascals (Wailers, Abuzah, Henry, DizzyTT).

The team will now be:

Ben “Beans” McMellon
Liam “Furiious” Osborne
Joey “Gismo” Owen
Stephen “Vortex” Allan
