Paris Eternal have separated from Nikolai “Naga” Dereli after the team opened up their Overwatch season 0-2.

The 21-year-old Dane signed for Paris in December 2020, spending the best part of 18 months with the team.

Eternal announced the change on Twitter, with Naga now looking for another team to be part of.

Paris Eternal said: “We want to thank Nikolai for all of his contributions to Eternal.

“We wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

There were rumours that Naga could have made the decision himself. A poor start to the season can’t be easy for any player to stomach.

He clarified the situation in his response to the news of his move to the bench.

Naga said: “Just to clarify, it was their decision.

“They should do what they think is best for the team. Meanwhile, I’ll be looking for a team who believes in me.

“I wish them nothing but the best.

“I have some good friends on that team and I really hope the best for them.”

Naga has been replaced by American Cameron “Wub” Johnson. He will move into the team for this weekend’s matches. His debut will come against the Toronto Defiant.

Eternal head into this weekend’s action tied for 11th in the Western division.

They are level with New York Excelsior. Vancouver Titans are the only squad below them in the standings.
