FaZe have benched Jake “Poach” Brumleve from their starting Valorant roster. They’ve moved Xavier “Flyuh” Carlson back to the starting lineup as his replacement.
The change will come into action for this weekend’s games in VCT Challengers.
FaZe are scheduled to play against Luminosity on Friday (May 20).
The team successfully qualified for the group stage of VCT Stage 2 but lost their group stage opener to OpTic.
Their qualification run wasn’t smooth but still better than their VCT Stage 1 campaign.
Three of their four matches in the qualification bracket went all the way to a map three. Not the kind of commanding dominance you expect from a FaZe Clan team in any esport.
FaZe announced the change on Twitter, with Poach himself confirming the move.
He will now be a restricted free agent on the FaZe bench. The next steps for him will be trying to find a move away from the organisation.
He had only joined FaZe last month, at the start of their VCT Stage 2 qualification run.
The Sage main put in several impressive displays as part of the roster, leading to some fans expressing shock at the move.
The squad looked better with Poach in the lineup and it seems kneejerk to drop the US national after losing to the best Valorant team in the business.
Flyuh comes back into the team after being out since March. He was in the squad when they failed to qualify for VCT Stage 1’s group stage.
He’ll need to be right on top of his game if he is to come into the team and keep them at the level they were play at.
