LA Thieves have hired Shane “Shane” McKerral as an assistant coach. He will join up with the team ahead of this weekend’s matches.

The Englishman is a former professional player and will be the first member to join the coaching team alongside Jordan “JKap” Kaplan this season.

JKap has been criticised at times this season for being the only coach in the roster, but finally he will have some support.

Brandon “Novus” Hewitt was part of the setup at LAT as an analyst. He has since joined the Seattle Surge in a management role.

Shane has a wealth of experience. He his start in competitive Call of Duty way back in 2010 on a PoweR roster.

He’s played with some of the best European players in the last decade, including Rhys “Rated” Price and Trei “Zer0” Morris.

He’s also coached for the London Royal Ravens. He was on their coaching staff for the first two years of franchising.

His experience speaks for itself.

LA Thieves have struggled for results this season. They went [0-5] in the qualifiers for Major 2. They managed to win a series against New York at the Major 2 tournament but that’s the limit of their recent success.

Shane will hope to have an instant impact in the team. They have two really difficult matches coming up this weekend.

They sit on a [1-2] record in Major 3 qualifiers ahead of matches against OpTic Texas and the Boston Breach. It could be another ugly look to their record after this weekend’s matches are done with.

LAT will want to better their results that they have had of late when it comes to the Toronto Major.

The event will run between June 2 and June 5. They’ll need to win one, if not both, of their matches this weekend to get a start in the winners bracket of the tournament.
